Community Service Project

This year RARC will be supporting Richmond CARITAS by distributing new and gently used books to children and their families staying in the shelters.  CARITAS is the largest provider of homeless services in the Metro Richmond Area sheltering up to 110 people per night, and over 1,000 people annually.  Our hope is to spread literacy and access to books for the children involved in this program and give them books to call their own.

In order to do this, we need your help.  We will be collecting new and gently used books at the Spring RARC conference held on Tuesday, April 12th at the Fulghum Conference Center (13900 Hull Street Road Midlothian, VA 23112).

We will be assembling bags of books for the children and their families on Saturday, April 30th at Twin Hickory Library from 9-12 PM.

The bags of books will be distributed to the children Sunday, May 8th.  Details regarding distribution will follow.

Please contact Jennifer Sanders at jsanders@hcps.us or Hilary Coakley at hcoakley@hcps.us for further details.

 Thank you for your partnership!
